Rooted in Nature. A K-1 learning experience unlike any other.
Will Smith Zoo School Elementary is growing! Our nature-based Kindergarten program expands to First Grade in the 2026–27 school year. Students learn through play, exploration, and inquiry. These experiences help them grow into curious, confident learners with a lasting connection to the natural world.

Program Highlights:
- Nature-based Learning: Outdoor learning is part of every day, from forest exploration to garden projects and animal observations across the Zoo.
- TEKS-Aligned, Play-Based Curriculum: Students meet Texas standards through hands-on, meaningful experiences that spark curiosity and critical thinking.
- Community Connections: Regular field experiences at the Zoo, local library, and community garden build a sense of belonging and civic pride.
- Small Class Sizes: Each classroom fosters individualized attention, social growth, and strong teacher–student relationships. Classes cap at 16 students.
- Forest Fridays: Every Friday, our students spend the day fully outdoors, learning through adventure, collaboration, and creativity.
